Real-time risk management for traders

Stop the bad trade before it becomes a blown day.

Your strategy can be right and your behavior can still wreck the session. Meridian gives traders a live Psychological Stability Index, monitors the behaviors that usually show up before a spiral, and lets Guard step in before the next emotional trade happens.

This walkthrough gives traders a simple visual look at the PSI workflow, the risk-management layer, and how Meridian fits into a live trading process.

Meridian risk management walkthrough

Use this video to show traders how Meridian turns execution behavior into a live stability score and gives them a practical risk layer before the next bad decision compounds.

The real problem

Most account damage does not start with one loss. It starts with a pattern.

You know the sequence. One trade goes wrong. Then the re-entry gets faster. The stop gets a little wider. Size creeps up. Now the session is not about your plan anymore. It is about getting back to even.

Traditional risk tools react after the fact.

A daily loss limit, max drawdown rule, or prop firm threshold usually tells you the session is over after the financial damage is already big enough to trigger the rule.

  • ! Fires after the P&L line is already broken
  • ! Treats disciplined losses and tilt the same way
  • ! Gives very little feedback while the spiral is forming

Meridian watches the behavior that creates the damage.

Instead of only watching P&L, Meridian watches execution behavior live and compares it to your own baseline. When your behavior starts to change, your PSI starts to move.

  • Flags deviations from your normal trading rhythm
  • Makes trading discipline measurable during the session
  • Lets Guard add friction before the next bad trade

When PSI falls into a critical zone, Meridian shows the behavioral breakdown in real time — before the next bad trade has a chance to compound the damage.
How Meridian works

It turns your execution behavior into a dashboard you can actually use.

This is not another journal you fill out when you are calm. Meridian runs during the session, reads live execution events, and gives you a current-state view of your behavior.

It learns your baseline

Your “normal” is calibrated to your own trading behavior, so a scalper and a slower trader are not judged by the same generic threshold.

It tracks seven signals

Revenge re-entry speed, stop manipulation, size spikes, hold bias, position overstay, rule violations, and overtrading pace.

It updates PSI live

The Psychological Stability Index gives you a simple 0–100 read on whether your behavior is stable, warning, or critical.

Guard can intervene

Choose the response: notification, risk alert, typed acknowledgment, trading pause, or full broker disconnect.

Live PSI HUD

The dashboard light comes on before the stop sign.

A loss limit is the stop sign. Useful, but late. Meridian’s floating HUD gives you a live behavioral read while the session is still saveable.

01

Stable

Your behavior is inside your normal trading rhythm.

02

Warning

Something is shifting: speed, size, stops, hold time, or rule compliance.

03

Critical

The system is telling you your execution state is no longer clean.

Meridian shows the session state while there is still time to respond.

Guard System

Set the rules while you are calm. Let Guard enforce them when you are not.

This is the part traders love because it creates friction at exactly the moment they usually abandon the plan.

Meridian Guard typed acknowledgement intervention

Typed acknowledgments force the trader to pause before adding risk.

Six trigger conditions. Five response levels.

Guard lets you pair the rule with the amount of friction you want. A gentle nudge for small deviations, or a hard stop when your trading plan needs a circuit breaker.

  • Triggers: PSI threshold, consecutive losses, session P&L, unrealized P&L, single-trade P&L, session time
  • Responses: notify, risk alert, typed acknowledgment, trading pause, broker disconnect
  • Optional password lock so you cannot casually override your own rules under pressure
  • Optional auto-flatten on certain pause or disconnect rules
Behavioral signals

Meridian watches the behaviors traders usually notice too late.

It does not need to guess whether you feel emotional. It watches what you actually do: how fast you re-enter, whether you manipulate stops, whether size creeps up, and whether your execution starts to drift from your baseline.

01

Revenge re-entry speed

Flags unusually fast re-entries after losses when the session starts turning emotional.

02

Stop manipulation

Watches for stop widening and risk changes that usually appear when a trader refuses to accept the trade.

03

Size spikes

Detects when contract size starts creeping outside your normal pattern.

04

Hold bias

Identifies when you are holding trades differently than your own historical rhythm.

05

Position overstay

Spots trades that stay open beyond the behavior profile Meridian has learned from you.

06

Rule violations

Tracks when your execution stops matching the rules you defined for yourself.

Meridian Guard countdown before broker disconnect

Guard can escalate from a nudge to a hard circuit breaker.

Trading pause & disconnect

When the session is no longer clean, Guard can stop new risk.

Guard does not have to be aggressive. You decide the response. But for traders who know they spiral, the ability to pause trading or disconnect the broker can be the difference between a small bad sequence and a ruined account.

Intel + Session Journal

The debrief is built in.

After the session, Meridian gives you a structured look at what happened: PSI history, session behavior, journal detail, rule issues, weekday patterns, and longer-term improvement trends.

01

Session history

See how your behavior changed across the session, not just where P&L ended.

02

PSI × P&L

Review how behavioral stability relates to your trading outcomes over time.

03

Risk brief

Use prior behavior to understand what to watch before the next trading day starts.

Who this is for

A clean fit for traders who already have a system — but need a better discipline layer.

Prop firm traders

Protect the eval from the one ugly session.

Most failures do not happen because the trader forgot what to do. They happen because one session gets emotional. Meridian gives you behavioral feedback before the hard limit is hit.

Psychology-focused traders

Make discipline measurable.

You may already understand trading psychology. Meridian turns that abstract idea into numbers, signals, journal history, and trend data you can review.

Systematic traders

Turn the plan into enforcement.

If your framework is clear, Guard can create a machine-enforced commitment layer around the rules you already know you should follow.

Choose your Meridian plan

Start with visibility. Upgrade to enforcement when you want the guardrails to bite.

Both options are built around the same idea: make trader behavior measurable while the session is still live. Core gives you the PSI monitor and analytics. Guard adds the intervention layer for traders who want rules enforced when discipline starts to slip.

Meridian Core Best first step

Trading Risk Management & PSI Monitor.

$49.99 / month

  • Real-time Psychological Stability Index

  • Floating HUD and Session Journal
  • Local session history and Intel analytics
  • 14-day free trial

Use our systems for better entries. Use Meridian to protect the discipline behind every decision.

That is the clean way to think about it. Our trading systems help give you structure, timing, and execution logic. Meridian adds the behavioral risk layer that helps keep one emotional sequence from undoing a week of good decisions.

FAQ

Everything you need to know before adding Meridian to your trading stack.

Clear answers, no hype. Meridian is not a magic “pass your eval” button. It is a risk and behavior management layer that makes the problem visible while you can still do something about it.

What is Meridian?

Meridian is a real-time risk management and behavioral discipline tool for traders. It includes traditional limits like daily loss, drawdown, single-trade loss, and loss-streak controls, then adds a live Psychological Stability Index that watches execution behavior as it changes during the session.

How is Meridian different from a daily loss limit?

A daily loss limit usually fires after the damage is already done. Meridian is designed to flag the behavioral pattern that tends to create that damage, such as revenge re-entries, stop manipulation, size spikes, and overtrading pace.

What is the Psychological Stability Index?

The Psychological Stability Index, or PSI, is a 0 to 100 score that reflects your current trading behavior relative to your own baseline. It is not a generic risk score. It learns what normal looks like for you and flags deviations from your own rhythm.

What behaviors does Meridian monitor?

Meridian tracks seven behavioral signals: revenge re-entry speed, stop manipulation, size spikes, hold bias, position overstay, rule violations, and overtrading pace.

What does Guard do?

Guard is Meridian’s enforcement layer. You can configure rules using triggers like PSI threshold, consecutive losses, session P&L, unrealized P&L, single-trade P&L, or session time, then pair those triggers with response levels such as notify, risk alert, typed acknowledgment, trading pause, or broker disconnect.

Which version should I choose: Core or Guard?

Choose Core at $49.99/month if you mainly want the PSI monitor, behavioral signals, journal, and analytics. Choose Guard at $69.99/month if you also want the enforcement layer: rules, alerts, typed acknowledgment, trading pause, broker disconnect, and Strict Lock.

Can Meridian disconnect my broker?

Yes, if you intentionally configure a Guard rule to do that. By default, Meridian can notify and add friction without forcing disconnection. Stronger responses are settings you choose in advance.

Can it close open positions automatically?

By default, no. Guard is designed to block additional risk while leaving open positions under your control. Auto-flatten can be enabled on certain Trading Pause or Disconnect rules, but that is an explicit opt-in setting.

Does Meridian affect execution speed or latency?

No. Meridian runs as a native NT8 add-on and processes account and execution events that NinjaTrader already fires internally. It does not intercept or delay your order routing.

Does it work with prop firm accounts?

Yes. Meridian works with accounts connected through NinjaTrader 8, including simulated and prop firm evaluation accounts. The point is not to guarantee an evaluation pass. The point is to identify behavioral breakdowns before the firm’s hard limit gets hit.

How long before the baseline is useful?

The first session works, but signals are wider. After 5–10 live trading sessions, the baseline becomes meaningfully calibrated. After 20–30 sessions, the signals become noticeably tighter. The 14-day trial gives traders time to let the system start learning their behavior.

Does it work on Mac?

No. Meridian is Windows-only. It runs natively in NinjaTrader 8, with standalone Tradovate and Ironbeam Windows apps in early access.

Does my trading data go to the cloud?

Your behavioral data, baselines, and session history live on your machine. License validation and anonymized research uploads may occur, but the product is designed around local processing and no personal trading credentials are required for the NT8 add-on.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Meridian offers a 14-day free trial. A credit card is required at checkout, and the trial gives the system enough time to begin learning the trader’s baseline.
